Winter Wonderland!

Utah has been a Winter Wonderland this year, and as a result, Jas and I have been been taking full advantage of the piles of snow that Sundance has to offer.  We are loving it!  I calculated just the other day that I have been skiing for over 10 years… that seems like so long!  Wow, when did that happen.  Jas skied when he was younger and is now just getting back into it. I am so glad!  He’s picked it back up like a pro and we’re having a ball.

One thing about me is I hate being cold, but I love skiing so much that I set all of that aside when I am on the slopes.  Once I get off the slopes, you better believe I am back to keeping my core temperature between 85-90 degrees at ALL times.  Awe, warmth… I just can’t get enough.  Arizona anyone?

Here are some fun pictures from our skiing adventures.

Ski Days!

Reaching New Heights!

Reaching New Heights!

You want me to ski down that?!

You want me to ski down that?!

I did it!

I did it!

I think it’s great that Jas is wearing his apple shirt while he’s skiing.

He might love Sundance but his true love will always be Apple. 🙂

Hanging Out.

Hooray!  You did it!  You made it through all those pictures.  We’ve had a couple different ski trips so I wanted to post all my favorite… That’s the luxury of having my own blog!  🙂  Can you tell that spring skiing is almost here?  The first pictures we were all bundled up.  This last time we went it was warm enough to take off our jackets.  My favorite time of year to ski is from February through the end of the ski season ALL because it’s warmer.

Measure Yourself!

Quote of the Day: “If all you do is measure yourself, you’ll start making changes automatically.”

I know that New Year’s was well over a month ago, but I was kind of hoping that it wasn’t too late for me to follow through on a little tradition I have.

Every year for as long as I can remember (at least in my adult life) at the beginning of each year I sit down and recap the previous year.  This list usually consists of things I’ve accomplished, places I visited, favorite songs, most inspirational people (in my life and what I’ve learned from them), favorite things to eat, world news, styles, movies, etc.

I do this mainly so that if I am ever lucky enough to be a mom and have kids, that they will one day be able to look back and know my likes, dislikes, hopes, dreams, goals, ambitions, and world news during specific times in my life.  However, I also do this for myself.  It allows me to measure myself.  To see how far I have come.  This little tradition can not only be inspirational but it can also be hilarious!

To give you an idea of what I mean by hilarious, I’ve listed below two goals I set last year and actually REALLY wanted to accomplish.  Who was I kidding!  I mean seriously, both of these are hilarious and will NEVER be accomplished!

Goals:

#1: Enroll in Biology Online!  (Side note: I enrolled in Biology 5 times in college and didn’t pass, why would I think the online version would work for me?  KA and Sheena will appreciate this!)

#2: Start using coupons!  Hahahaha… really all I can do is laugh at this! If you know me then you know why this is hilarious!  I admire those that can cut and use coupons!  (Really!)

Now here are some goals I DID accomplish:

#1: Buy a Computer.  This I did!  Hooray!  Around June of last year I purchased the new MacBook Pro.  Yes, I am 27 and have never had to purchase my own computer (laptop).  All my past computers have always been owned by my employers which I used for both work and personal. 🙂  Funny thing is now that I have my own computer my current company is having me use it for work!  Go Figure!

#2: Keep living in New York.  This one I did until November 22, 2008.  Total time spent in New York = 18 months.

#3: Loose weight (classic, right)… however I did it! From August – December I lost 19.6 pounds which was a fat loss of 5.8%.  As of today I have lost 26.4 pounds which is a fat loss of 8.5%.

#4: Learn how to cook.  I love that I accomplished this goal.  I love cooking at home and would prefer it over going out (most of the time….).

My most commonly used phrase of 2008: “Nope, I am still not married.”

After my review of last year, I have set some new goals.  Some of them are fun and others are serious.  I am excited for this year and all the things that are in-store.  Check back around this time next year for another year-end review.  That’s when you’ll find out the goals I set for this year and all the things I do and DON’T accomplish. Happy New Year… or should I say Happy Valentines Day?!

Hilarious!

You know it’s time to update your blog when your sister-in-law sends you a request to your work email address that says:

“Hey Shalauna, when are you going to update your website?  I’ll bet there is a ton of people waiting to see what is going on in your life… LIKE ME!    Love, Sariah”

Isn’t her email so great!  What did we all do before blogs and Facebook.?  How did we ever keep track of each other?

To my sister-in-law Sariah and everyone else who reads my blog, these next posts are just for you!
